Respect in Sport (RIS) Parents
Please be aware that Hockey Alberta has advised that all Respect in Sport (RIS) Programs now have a 4- year expiry. If you took the RIS Parent Course prior to the 2015-16 season, you will need to take the course again before the player registration can be accepted.
For more information on the Hockey Alberta announcement, please visit the Hockey Alberta site. The course can be taken at hockeyalbertaparent.respectgroupinc.com
IMPORTANT FOR 2018-19 SEASON: RESPECT IN SPORT NOW HAS A 4 YEAR EXPIRY AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO RETAKE THE HOCKEY ALBERTA RESPECT IN SPORT COURSE PARENT AND/OR ACTIVITY LEADER IF YOU ORIGINALLY COMPLETED IT FOR THE 2015-16 SEASON OR EARLIER. ALSO, IF YOU PREVIOUSLY HAD SPEAK OUT, YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE THE RESPECT IN SPORT ACTIVITY LEADER COURSE TO BE ON THE TEAM STAFF AS THE SPEAK OUT COURSE IS NO LONGER VALID.
The Respect in Sport Parent Program is an effective and informative online training program for parents of active children.
This one hour online certification program reinforces a parents role in a child or youth's activities, encouraging positive sport behaviours, and providing insight into the various roles other individuals (such as coaches and officials) play. This program empowers parents to ensure the safety of their children, encourage positive and effective communication, and to enhance a child's fun and camaraderie of the activity. The number one reason cited for coaches, managers and officials of all ages leaving a sport is unacceptable parent behaviour. Let the Respect in Sport Parent Program help assert proper parent behaviours to create a more rewarding, safe and respectful environment for all parties involved.
