The purpose of the Maple Leaf Athletic Club program is development.
We work with the Elite athletes, and do what we can to help develop them so that they can go to the next level - be it a higher division in Bantam or Midget, to play Junior Tier II in the AJHL, BCJHL, SJHL or play Junior Tier 1 in the WHL. We have also sent a number of players into professional leagues including the NHL. Besides the hockey angle, there is the life-skills angle.
By participating in our program which provides the player an opportunity to clearly develop his or her hockey skills - situations also arise that help the young adult to learn how society works, how to deal with problems, conflict, teamwork, peer pressure, respect etc.
This life-skills development is also crucial inthe development of the athlete. Only a select few go onto play professional hockey, but all players require the life-skills which are developed here by players 13 to 17 years old in order to be successful in the business world.
