Tryout Registration


2024-2025 MLAC Tryout Registration Package
 

Tryout Fee:

July 1, 2024 onward   - $400

 

U15AAA Tryout August 24th

U13AA Tryout August 26th

U17AAA Tryout tentiviley beginning of September (depending on # of registrations)

All other levels will depend on # of registrations and will be posted on our website

 
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE MESSAGE FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING REGISTRATION PROCESS

 

This season, MLAC will have the following teams:

 

  • 1 U18AA team
  • 1 U17AAA team
  • 1 U16AA team
  • 1 U15AAA team
  • 2 U15AA teams
  • 2 U13AA teams

 

U17AAA - Players who are 15-16 and interested in the U17AAA tryouts should complete the appropriate tryout form.  Those 15 year old players who are released from the U17AAA team have the option of a 2nd tryout with another club or going directly to MLAC's U16AA team which will comprise of only 15 year olds.

 

U18AAA Junior Oilers/ JUNIOR A Releases:

U18 eligible players who choose to tryout for the U18AAA Junior Oilers or any Junior A teams must also register for MLAC tryouts upon return.  In order to take advantage of the MLAC early bird tryout fee, you must submit your registration before the deadline of June 30, 2024.

 

***It is recommended that players register with MLAC to take advantage of the early bird fee and discounted rate.  If the player does not return from the Junior Oilers or Junior camp (i.e. they make the Junior Oilers or a Junior team), the tryout fee will be refunded in full.

FEE TERMS:

There are no refunds for MLAC Tryouts, with the exception of medical reasons.
 
Medical Exemption: No later than 12AM on the 1st day of tryouts, a refund of the tryout fee minus a $50 administration fee can be requested for medical reasons only by providing a medical note signed by a physician to the MLAC Registrar. After 12 AM on the 1st day of tryouts this fee is non-refundable.  The tryout fee will cover a minimum of 3 ice sessions until the player is released or at the end of September, whichever occurs first.
 

Exhibition games may be used to assist the coaching staff in determining final rosters and the players may be charged an additional fee to cover the costs of referees, ice rentals and other team expenses to be determined by the head coach.

 

Please complete the appropriate MLAC Tryout Package in FULL. Should you wish to pay by credit card, please complete the information at the bottom of the form and forward (no photos) to Liz Huston at mlahcfin@telus.net  If you prefer to pay by cash  please complete the form and contact Liz Huston to make alternate arrangements in submitting your cash payment.

 

**The tryout fee is based on the date all documentation is received (application form, parent declaration form (for new players to MLAC), proof of residency and payment).

 

PLAYER RELEASES:

 

Players will be assigned a team for the first round of tryouts where scrimmage games will be played and will be posted on the MLAC website shortly before tryouts begin.  There is no switching of teams.

Players will be evaluated by the coaching staff based on skill, knowledge of the game and position trying out for, in a fair and equitable manner. The decisions made by the coaches are supported by the Maple Leaf Athletic Club.  

 

PLAYER RELEASES:

 

Releases will occur after the 3rd skate with all releases posted on the MLAC website. 
If a released player would like tryout for another club, please see Elite Player Movement for Waiver and Notification-of-Tryout forms at aacouncil.com for instructions.
 

When a player is released at the U13AA and U15AA:

  • there may be an invitation to try out by the coach of one of the other MLAC AA teams, or
  • request entry to the AAA Elite Player Movement or AA Model Player Movement process, go to Elite Council for step-by-step instructions and information, or
  • return to the Federation (House) program

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

1.  Please ensure that you live within the MLAC boundaries, Boundary Map and the MLAC Communities Draw

 

2.  ONLY NEW PLAYERS WHO DIDN'T TRYOUT LAST SEASON and registering for the 2024-25 season must complete the Parent Declaration Form and attach proof of residency, by way of a current utility bill (Direct Energy or Epcor)  

***Prior to clicking the Submit button on the online Parent Declaration Form it is imperative that you attach your proof of residency and that you include mlahcfin@telus.net in the "Forward to Email" box at the bottom of the form***

 

3.  All parents must have a valid Respect in Sport in order to register for tryouts

 

Note that your registration is not complete until you finish all steps as indicated on our website.  Also note that if you completed the Parent Declaration form and provided proof of residency that does not mean you are registered you will need to fill out the registration form and return to me with your payment information as MLAC does not use online registration in HCR.
 
Note that if you have registered for tryouts with your zone and want to try out with MLAC, we require our registration form to be submitted with payment as we are not affiliated with the zones.

 

Tryouts teams,dates and skate times to be posted on our website early August.  No follow up emails will be sent as all information will be posted on our website.
